Mat Callahan & Yvonne Moore
The Duet - 2017

This year, Mat and Yvonne present a new repertoire of songs selected at the request of the Brooklyn Folk Festival, where they perform April 29th, 2017. The program commemorates the 50th anniversary of the publication of a songbook, “Hard Hitting Songs for Hard Hit People.” This songbook was compiled by Alan Lomax, Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger and contains more than one hundred songs composed by American workers and farmers in the 1920’s, ‘30’s and ‘40’s. The duet’s performance features the songs of Sara Ogan Gunning, Aunt Molly Jackson, Jim Garland, John Handcox and Woody Guthrie and includes history as well as music. For more info on the book please visit this website.

These songs are not only the authentic, but long-forgotten, voice of common people at that time, they express a spirit and determination that can inspire us today. Come and celebrate this timeless music and share our hope for a better world.

The James Connolly-Easter Rising Tour 2016

Mat Callahan and Yvonne Moore begin a year of celebration!
James Connolly and the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising.
From the publication of Songs of Freedom in 1907 to the declaration of the Irish Republic on the steps of the General Post Office in Dublin 1916, Connolly's vision was a beacon in the struggle for liberation. Using Connolly's own songs along with others made famous in Ireland's fight for independence, Callahan and Moore perform a spirited tribute to the rebels of Easter Week and the leadership of James Connolly.
